Things that you should learn about India's New Drone Rules 2021

The Indian government has developed New Drone Rules 2021 to support start-ups working in the field of drones. This declaration has been done by the ministry of civil aviation and these rules have been considered to liberalize the regime for unmanned aircraft systems.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also tweeted on this occasion by stating “The new Drone Rules will tremendously help start-ups and our youth working in this sector. It will open up new possibilities for innovation and business. It will help leverage India’s strengths in innovation, technology and engineering to make India a drone hub”.

The government has announced this some weeks after a drone attack at an Indian Air Force base in Jammu. The attack took place on July 2021. These rules were developed to ensure that using drones in India should be based on “trust, self-certification and non-intrusive monitoring”, as per the statement of the ministry of civil aviation.

The goal of these rules is to make India a global drone hub by 2030 and to make use of drone applications in the transportation, logistics, defence, mining, infrastructure sectors and the govt is also optimistic about the fact that it will create new job opportunities.

The government has reduced the number of forms that needed to be filled up to operate drones by giving the drone companies a major relief. Previously the number was 25 and in the new rule, it has been reduced to 5.

The total number of fees has also been reduced to operate drones.
