We have witnessed a lot of enthusiasm around since the time Elon Musk has announced that Tesla will be launched in India. The company has planned their dealerships in India and they are also working to set up their office in Mumbai.
The company has already registered itself in Bengaluru and Karnataka. We have also seen Model 3 and Model Y is being tested on Indian roads. On Twitter, the company has also announced that it has completed its homologation. The company has also received approval for four vehicle variants in India, as it has announced on Twitter.
We can assume that in India Model 3 and Model Y are most likely to be launched. These two models will get two variants each in India. But it has also to be noted that the company has not given any confirmations yet about what models will be launched in India. But both Model 3 and Model Y are entry-level vehicles from Tesla.
There are way larger and costlier models in Tesla such as Model X and Model S. So, we can assume that Tesla would not bring these two models in India as of now. Also, it has to be noted that only Model Y and Model 3 have been spotted to be tested in India.
Tesla has also announced that it would be opening up dealerships in metropolitan cities first. The dealerships will be opening in cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi. The company has already registered itself as Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited in Bengaluru.
It also assumed that Tesla will be bringing the vehicles as Completely Built Units and for this reason, the price will go up substantially. It is assumed that Rs. 60 lakhs will be the price for Model 3 and the Model Y would cost more than Model 3.
This is one of the biggest reasons why the company is setting up their first dealerships in big metropolitan cities. But Indians are hoping that Tesla will shift its Completely Built Unit to India which will help in dropping the prices.
