Tinder launches its new ‘Block Contact’ in its app this week. From Monday onwards the users will be able to block personal contacts on the app.
Bernadette Morgan, Tinder’s product manager for trust and safety, said that this new feature will help to make the app a more comfortable space for its users. By blocking personal contacts from the list, users can avoid unexpectedly meeting their family members, friends or exes on the same platform. This will help the users to begin new relations with a calm mind without being concerned about meeting familiar faces.
Tinder had authorised a survey including almost 1500 users as it sample. The survey proved that over 40% of the sample had run into previous partners on the app. it also proved that almost 24% of the sample came across some family members on the dating app. A few others had run into some colleagues and over 10% came across professors in the app. The majority of the respondents mentioned that they would prefer avoiding such unexpected meetings. They would not wish to view their personal contacts or be visible to them on Tinder.
The survey was conducted in May and has led to the up-gradation of the app. the new feature which allows blocking personal contacts is a tangible outcome of the survey. This feature allows its users to be invisible to their personal contacts and also enables them to be free from running into them on the dating platform. This feature will surely make more users comfortable and make Tinder a safer space to find new connections.
