McDonald’s Chicken Nugget Sold for $100k on eBay

Chicken nugget from the BTS McDonald’s Meal was sold for $100k on eBay as it resembled an Among Us crewmate. McDonald’s had partnered with the BTS K-pop stars to deliver a personalised meal called the BTS Meal. It consisted of 10 chicken nuggets, Cajun and sweet chilli sauces, medium fries and coca-cola.

Among Us is an indie game in which multiple players could take part. It was quite popular last year. In 2020, the game became a big event when U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez participated in it. The game became popular in the summer of 2020 though it was released originally in 2019. Among Us is almost like a murder mystery game. The players who are the crewmates of the ship are given small tasks. The game involves two other players who are imposters. Their task is to kill everyone on board. The characters, which are designed simply, had already achieved meme status. It became popular during the pandemic as a platform that helped friends to connect.

The nugget in the shape of the Among Us crewmate was first posted on eBay by Polizna, for 99 cents. It achieved the meme status quickly and the first bid was placed for $14,869. The price rose to $99,997 by the end of Friday. The seller mentioned that the item, which expired in about 14 days, will be delivered to the bidder before its expiration.

The seller also mentioned that the nugget will be frozen and sealed airtight to maintain its freshness. It would be sent along with McDonald’s Szechuan sauce which had been quite popular among Rick and Morty fans.

The closure of the auction was announced by the Among Us Twitter account as they paid tribute to the strange week and blessed the buyer of the nugget along with posting the video with nugget in the game.
