Pinterest Launches a New Initiative for a Post-COVID Future

People are looking forward to a post-pandemic future, therefore Pinterest has partnered with American Express to showcase 20+ small businesses offering things on the platform that people are looking for as they prepare for the next stage.

The effort was motivated by a surge in interest in supporting small businesses, with Pinterest searches for “ways to support small business” up 50% in the last year.

SMBs, in particular, have struggled to weather the storm as a result of the pandemic lockdowns, which have caused many firms to suffer significant losses. According to Federal Reserve projections, 200,000 US firms could be forced to close as a result of the pandemic’s ongoing effects, with the bulk of those being small businesses that were already struggling in many ways and working on razor-thin margins.

Indeed, Pinterest observes that many firms are still struggling to stay afloat: “47% of business owners are anxious about their profitability in the next months, while 75% of customers say they would shop with small businesses more often if there were more methods to do so.”

Pinterest has already witnessed a substantial rise in activity as buyers try to buy from solopreneurs and creators through the app, given the increased desire for individuals to support their local communities and the businesses that operate within them.

Since a result, it’s the ideal vehicle for this effort, while it helps to promote small businesses while also providing consumers with a way to actively contribute to keeping these selected creators afloat as they navigate the crisis. Throughout the summer, the selected brands will be featured on the Pinterest Shop tab.
