Tinder India has launched a new project in cooperation with VisitHealth to provide all of its members with free mental health resources.
Existing and new members will be able to attend therapy sessions in June and July as part of the campaign. Through the dating app, they will have free access to emotional wellbeing material chosen by VisitHealth, such as guided meditations, fitness videos, and more. Users can also take advantage of up to two free sessions with qualified therapists, as well as discounted fees for subsequent sessions. All major Indian languages will have therapists available.
“For all of us, the pandemic has put things in perspective. Covid-19 has had a negative impact on mental health, particularly among our younger members who are adjusting to a new normal. The last few months have been very difficult, with nearly everyone experiencing increased levels of sadness, worry, anxiety, and loss. In a statement, Taru Kapoor, general manager of Tinder and Match Group India, stated, “We recognise that every now and again, one needs to pause and check-in, and we hope that with this effort, our users take comfort in the idea that now help is just a click away on Tinder.”
The majority of Tinder users are between the ages of 18 and 25. They’ve turned to dating apps to find companionship and support as a result of the pandemic’s loss, longing, and loneliness. Since the start of the pandemic, mentions of ‘anxious’ have climbed by 20% and ‘normalise’ by 11% in Tinder bios in India, according to the press release.
“As an integrated digital healthcare platform, our objective is to provide high-quality care to everyone while also de-stigmatizing mental illness. We hope to provide a secure space for young adults and promote their mental and social well-being through our cooperation with Tinder.”
