Be it Instagram or Twitter, it has been giving away blue tick marks to people who really deserve it. These are called verification badges and Twitter started giving them away in 2017. From the time it had started giving it away it has been working on the verification programme. A new piece of information states that Twitter is about to launch a new verification process.
This particular process will be asking the users for a set of questions, after which it will check whether a verified badge can be given. Activists, influencers, journalists, news organizations, government officials and more can request the verified badge.
Jane Manchun Wong tweeted that Twitter will be launching its new verification process soon. She gives us a clue that the process is at its finishing stage. A screenshot displaying the details that will be asked during the process of the new verification programme was shared. Twitter primarily shared a group of categories who will be eligible to get this job and puts them in a specific category. Wong has shared a screenshot of these categories as well.
People who like to get this verification badge will have to submit a few things. It includes identity verification, the specific category they belong to and also the proof of their qualifications. As soon as all the details are uploaded they can submit the request for a verification badge. The screenshots denote that Twitter has teamed up with a third-party provider to help check the authenticity of the information uploaded.
However, the verification process was paused in November 2017, since Twitter faced a lot of discrepancies. Twitter then started checking all the accounts that held a badge and started removing the ones which do not fall in the proper category. After which there is no announcement about the verification badge or process.
