IKEA India is planning to mark its presence in Bengaluru also. IKEA is a Sweden based furniture company that has been delivering furniture in Metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat. The company announced their plan to expand to Bengaluru city in its Twitter account yesterday. They will make their products available in the Bengaluru market soon.
The company opened its retail store in Hyderabad in 2018. IKEA India adopted an omnichannel method to expand its business in the country. It opened its retail store in Navi Mumbai in December 2020. Its decision to set foot in Bangalore will aid in the expansion of the company and also enhance its connection with the customers. It also reveals that IKEA’s long term growth plans in India.
In May 2021 IKEA launched its official app to provide a better users experience. The app, available for Android and iOS, makes it easier for the users to search and browse through the app by providing them recommendations, reviews and ratings of the products.
The Bengaluru retail store of IKEA is expected to be operational by 2022 as they have already rented 100,000sq, ft. land for this purpose. Its website has already begun to include Bengaluru pin codes under the ‘eligible for delivery’ category.
The company charges the delivery according to the weight of the products. Products weighing more than 200 Kg is charged up to Rs4,449; products up to 12 Kg with Rs 499 and products weighing 5 Kg is charged up toRs299, according to the details provided on the company website.
IKEA is the largest furniture companies in the world. Ashley Homestore, Kartell and Restoration Hardware are other brands that are competing with IKEA in the global market. IKEA competes with Pepperfry, Urban ladder, Hometown and many other companies in the Indian furniture market.
