Netflix has announced that Indian Matchmaking season 2 is soon going to be released on Netflix. Netflix has also announced that ‘Sima from Mumbai’- this is the way Mumbai-based matchmaker Sima Taparia used to introduce herself to prospective clients, will be featured in season 2 of this reality series as well. Indian Matchmaking is one of the most-talked arranged marriage reality series.
This series has been premiered last July and this has received a huge response from fans. This series is directed by Smriti Mundhra, though this series has been criticized by many of us for its problematic propagating discrimination based on caste, skin colour, and gender stereotypes. Despite these reasons also the season 1 of this series has been nominated at the 2021 Emmys.
Though Netflix didn’t provide as much information about season 2 of this series. The video streaming platform has only mentioned that there would be some familiar faces and new singletons across the globe who has expressed their wish to be a part of this series. Netflix has given an open casting call for this series. Anyone who is above 18 years and is a resident of the US, the UK, Canada, or Ireland will be considered eligible to be cast in this reality series.
The director of this series Mundhra is also one of the executive producers on Indian Matchmaking along with some other producers such as Aaron Saidman, Eli Holzman, and J.C. Begley. This series is a production of Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation.
