The world’s largest restaurant company, McDonald’s, plans to bring out its BTS meal in almost 50 global markets using the very popular South Korean K-Pop band. There is no doubt that for McDonald, which associated with Travis Scott and J Balvin in 2020 on “Famous Orders”, this is yet another brilliant marketing strategy.
McDonald’s released a 30 second video commercial for the BTS meals which would last only for a limited time. The commercial uses the bands new hit “Butter” emphasising the number of followers that the BTS band has. The members of the band are happy to have been part of the brands advertising.
The ‘BTS meal’ includes a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, a medium coke, medium fries with two dipping sauces- sweet chilli and Cajun. As of now, the meal would be available in the market till June 20.
McDonald’s marketing strategy does not come to an end with the commercial. It is planning to release video content with the BTS band as main ambassadors available only in the McDonald’s app in the U.S. It also plans to market products like bags, hoodies, hats, purple bathrobes socks, umbrellas and sandals on the We verse Shop app from 7p.m. EDT onwards.
The BTS meal was declared in April and was followed up by posting related news in social media like making available postcards for fans. The BTS meal is an important milestone for the company as the pandemic has increased the competition among fast food restaurants. The fast food restaurants had survived better than other diners with their speedy delivery and other services.
Many diners which provided only in-person services have begun to offer delivery services too. But no other company has the revenue that McDonald’s hold for marketing and with BTS being the most famous band in the field of music right now, the company is certain to repeat its success
