Netflix has faced the worst slowdown in its subscriber growth in the past eight years in Netflix’s history. As people are getting rid of lockdown mode and they are going back to their regular life, Netflix has faced this trouble. This is why Netflix has taken a new strategy to grow its subscriber growth once again. They have included video games into their platform.
Netflix has announced that from now on it will offer video games with its subscription services without any extra cost. But the video streaming giant has not said that from when they are going start this service. The subscribers can avail this facility with their existing subscription. It also hasn’t announced that what kind of video games it going to offer.
Report shows that Netflix has recently faced a financial breakdown. During the winter months Netflix’s subscriber growth has stumbled. Though in the months of April and June, Netflix has slightly recovered from that loss as 1.5 million new subscribers has taken a subscription. But the growth rate of this video streaming platform is still low if compared to its previous record.
In the first six months of this year, Netflix has got 5.5 million new subscribers. But this is Netflix’s lowest growth rate since 2013. This was a time when Netflix was rolling out original programs. Now Netflix is also offering video games, which may leap up the company’s subscription growth.
Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings has said that by offering video games they are trying the subscription service to grow and to become more important in people’s life. The company has already hired a veteran video game executive named Mike Verdu, to successfully launch this program in Netflix.
Netflix’s chief product officer, Greg Peters has said that for now they are focusing on mobile video games only but soon they will expend it on TV sets as well.
