Twitter has announced the launch of the Super Follower feature to its app. the Super Follower feature will be available to members with more than 10,000 followers. This feature would allow them to charge for extra contents like extra tweets, joining a community or receiving newsletters.
Twiter has announced that was working on services similar to Patreon, a tool that allows its users to run subscription service, as micro-blogging is about to become an important mode of revenue.
During the digital event with investors, Twitter had released a mock screenshot of this feature. The screenshot showed a user charging almost $4.99 pm for extra contents. The first person to tweet this feature was Jane Manchun Wong, the app developer.
To enable the Super Follower feature in Twitter, the user should be atleast 18 years old, should have 10,000 followers, and have posted minimum 25 tweets in last 30 days. The feature allows the user to choose from a listed category of extra contents.
Twitter had offered the feature called Twitter Blue last week to users in Australia and Canada. It was a subscription option and provided the users Undo Tweet option which allowed them to erase typos in their tweet if used within 30seconds. It allows the user to set the Undo option in their setting which would allow them to review their tweets and correct mistakes if necessary. It will also provide the user with a chance to see how their post would look like before other view it.
Twitter blue was a monetisation scheme where the twitter user can be a subscriber for $3.49 in Canada and $4.49 in Australia.
The users in other countries like India will be provided with the subscription service in a short time. Twitter is planning to double its annual revenue by 2023 acquiring by then atleast315 monetisable daily active users (mDAU).
